Online communities

This MESH Guide has been developed by the ViSuAL Knowledge Alliance (ViSuAL-KA). The Alliance consisted of 6 European Higher Education Institutes and 6 Educational Technology Companies. The 12 partners in this project co-created 1) an evidence-based pedagogical model for Video-Supported Collaborative Learning and 2) a co-creating BUS-HEI-partnership model. Both outputs are described in this MESHGuide.

Online communities

Online reading challenges offer children opportunities to discuss their reading, connect with others and receive recommendations for future reading from other readers. Online reading communities make reading more social. Readers participate in online social networks in several ways. There are apps that can be used. Goodreads is simple and can be accessed by smartphone. Students can track their reading, set yearly targets for themselves and post reviews.

Online Communities

We suggest you find a professional association to join or set one up. Examples from the UK and Australia are: United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA); the National Association of Teachers of English (NATE), also UK based. As far as Australia is concerned, equivalent organisations are: The Australian Literacy Educators Association (ALEA); The Primary English Teachers Association of Australia (PETAA) and the English Teachers Association of Australia (ETAA).
